Mark Coates

Mark Coates

Mark is a mature and highly-experienced procurement leader who has an impressive track record of leading and managing procurement transformation programmes; leading strategic sourcing initiatives; and developing and improving the performance of existing procurement teams in a coaching capacity, applying category management principles.

Mark is one of the founders of Oculus and has led many procurement programmes across key industry sectors over a career which spans over 25 years.  He has a reputation for leading teams in conducting opportunity assessments; assessing the maturity and capability of existing procurement teams; and delivering significant and measurable cost savings at speed.

In addition, Mark also has a track record of embedding key procurement skills within organisations: to ensure these companies see a sizeable improvement in how they conduct their strategic sourcing and supplier management activity.

Luke Foster

Luke Foster

Having graduated in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from Liverpool John Moore’s University in 2012, Luke commenced his career as a Graduate Procurement Manager at one of the UK’s largest third-party logistics organisations, before moving into financial services and then founding Oculus in 2017. Luke’s roles have all been within centre-led procurement functions leading significant, business-wide procurement transformations, gaining significant experience of the design and implementation of procurement policy.

As one of the founders of Oculus, Luke has worked with clients from a variety of industry sectors such as manufacturing, insurance, financial & professional services, and retail.  With experience across a wide array of spend categories, primarily focusing on HR, facilities, and professional services.

Luke’s key specialism is in spend data analytics and cost modelling. Offering the ability to unravel vast quantities of data to build simple yet effective reports providing the insight required to support a drive for change. Through effective Power BI dashboards, Luke is able to offer a level of insight, previously unavailable, to support the identification of areas of focus within an organisations spend profile.

Matthew Hardaker

Matthew Hardaker

A highly experienced procurement manager, Matthew has spent near 20 years in high performing centre-led category teams within the Transport and Logistics, Financial Services, and Insurance sectors. Before starting Oculus Procurement, Matthew’s was the Procurement Category Lead for HR, Professional Services and Facilities Management, at Swinton Insurance, the UK’s leading high-street general insurer (and then part of the wider Covea Insurance group) where a whole-of-business procurement transformation was delivered.

Since starting Oculus, Matthew has applied his experience in Industry and continues to deliver a range Procurement Consultancy engagements that see our clients transform their functions from tactical departments, into centre-led strategic functions that drive procurement best practice across their organisation.

Outside of our Procurement Consultancy engagements, Matthew also leads various profit improvement and operating-cost-reduction programmes for our clients across a very diverse range of areas – banking and merchant fees; corporate insurance programmes; and treasury management systems to name but a few, as well as the traditional areas of focus across HR, facilities management, professional services and alike.
